ELYSE KNOWLES WEARS STAPLE THE LABEL FOR MYER

Tonal colours, cosy layers and luxurious textures such as knit and faux fur are popular looks this season. Current trends for autumn move away from stark black and grey monochrome and into warmer, more neutral shades of beige and brown; and classic prints such as animal and check.

FASHION WEEK

May 17, 2019

#MBFWA 2019 STREET STYLE HIGHLIGHTS

Sydney Fashion Week (AKA #MBFWA) has wrapped up for another year, bringing with it incredible catwalk shows exhibiting Resort 2020 collections for some of Australia's top designers. But the best inspiration and trend forecasting can always be found outside the venues, where fashion editors, buyers, bloggers and influencers mingle in their street style best.

Below we showcase our favourite street style looks from MBFWA 2019.

Sleek, classic suits were definitely on-trend this year, seen on the likes of Sara Crompton, Beck Wadworth and Tegan Martin. Nadia Fairfax went outside the box with an amazing denim skirt suit.

Head-to-toe neutral looks consisting of varying layers and contrasting textures to add interest and depth were a firm favourite with the fashion set. As seen on Sammy Robinson & Jade Tunchy, Nikki Phillips, and Isabelle Mathers.

Delicate lace and eyelet detail added a bold feminine touch to otherwise strong and structured looks. As seen on Bambi Northwood-Blyth and Erin Holland.

Puffy, statement sleeves in soft white and sorbet shades were seen on the likes of Eleanor Pendleton, Karissa Sparke and Tarah Jane Scott.

Whose look was your favourite? 'Til next year!

Suit Up

May 13, 2019

From work to weekend

No longer just for the office, suit separates have become wardrobe staples in their own right. Worn back with casual favourites, your Monday-Friday uniform transforms into chic and casual weekend wear. Here are our 3 favourite ways to take your suit from work to weekend:

Throw the Coupe checked blazer over a turtleneck and jeans, or pair the matching wide-legged trousers with a roll-neck knit for easy Saturday style.

Staple the Label Coupe Blazer, Adeline Knit Jumper and Coupe Belted Pants

Rust/tobacco red is everywhere this season, and the Parisian Blazer and Pant suit makes a divine statement when worn together. Paired with a classic skivvy in a complementary or contrasting colour, the Parisian Pant modernises this timeless look.

Staple the Label Parisian Blazer and Parisian Pant

The ultimate in laid-back chic, the Prime Blazer and Pant are just the right amount of slouch. Worn together, it's a fashion-forward look for the office while still being comfortable. Or pair with a basic tee and sneakers for a cool Sunday brunch outfit.

The hottest colours this autumn

Move over black and grey, autumn/winter 2019 is all about warm, rich tones that feel cosy and inviting. These are the 4 shades that we're loving and adding to our wardrobes at the moment:

Caramel

Delicious-sounding shades of toffee, caramel and chocolate have enjoyed a resurgence this year, and it's not hard to see why. Warm and inviting, it's the perfect neutral shade to update your wardrobe.

Staple the Label Embrace Cardigan

Rust

Rich and elegant, yet cosy and comforting, rust and tobacco shades are the perfect way to warm up when the weather cools down. Surprisingly versatile, it works perfectly worn head-to-toe as a tonal look, or as a subtle pop of colour.

Staple the Label Haighs Slip Dress and Fleetwood Faux Fur Jacket

Oatmeal

Soft, fresh shades of ecru, beige and oatmeal are everywhere at the moment - both in autumn here in Aus and in spring fashion on the other side of the world. Infinitely wearable, shades of white and beige are no longer simply fillers or basics used to supplement stronger colours - wear them as a full outfit for a monochrome, statement look.

Staple the Label Poetic Jumper and Coupe Blazer

Magenta

Forget about millennial pink, 2019 is all about stronger, punchier pinks such as magenta and hot pink. Perfect for adding a pop of colour to an otherwise monochrome outfit, magenta is both fun and sophisticated, and right on trend.

Mother's Day 2019

May 03, 2019

4 Stylish Aussie Mums

With Mother’s Day around the corner, we’re paying tribute to some of our favourite chic mums.  From their impeccable style to their honest and beautifully written accounts on motherhood, here are 4 women you’re going to want to follow for outfit inspiration, parenting tips and more:

@becjudd

Bec Judd is a powerhouse of a woman – she’s a TV and radio host plus the founder of multiple brands. She manages to juggle her workload with being a mum to 4 kids, including twin toddler sons! Total mum goals.

@becjudd - Stylish Aussie mum

@sherlockdiary

The beautiful Dita Sherlock just had her second baby a few weeks ago, but for the past few months we’ve been huge fans of her stylish pregnancy outfits – with no maternity clothes in sight. We can’t wait to see how her style evolves now that her beautiful baby boy has arrived.

Dita wears Staple the Label Roadtrip Jumpsuit

@notsomumsy

We’re big fans of Marcia Leone and her beautifully written posts on motherhood. If that’s not enough, she has a clothing label in which she creates her own pajamas, designed to be worn all day long. Now that’s fashion we can get behind.

@nictrunfio

Nicole Trunfio is an international model, CEO of two businesses, wife to musician Gary Clark Jr, and most importantly, a mum to two gorgeous kids. She often brings her children along to photoshoots and famously appeared on the cover of Elle magazine in 2015 breastfeeding her then-newborn son.

Satin Spotlight

April 24, 2019

Wardrobe Essential

The humble satin slip dress and skirt have exploded into popularity over the past few months, becoming wardrobe staples every woman needs. The Staple the Label Jasper Slip Skirt and Haighs Slip Dress have become two of the hardest-working pieces in my closet for their versatility and easy elegance.

While there are no limits to the ways these classic pieces can be styled, here are my 3 favourite ways to wear it this season.

Play with textures

The contrast of the form fitting Jasper Skirt in bias cut satin against the chunky knit Finn Jumper, adds interest and texture to this classic look, particularly when loosely tucked and worn off the shoulder. I like to wear this look with a pair of kitten heels or crisp white sneakers for easy weekend style.

Jasper Slip Skirt, $109.95 | Finn Jumper, $89.95

Layer it up

The Haighs Slip Dress is such a simple piece, providing the perfect canvas for statement jackets and layered pieces. I love to throw my favourite leather biker or the Fleetwood Faux Fur Jacket over the top and let my outerwear do the talking.

Haighs Slip Dress, $119.95 | Fleetwood Faux Fur Jacket, $199.95

After-hours style

Turn the silk skirt from AM to PM simply by pairing it with a matching satin camisole for a chic evening wear look. I’ll style this with a pair of this season’s latest strappy heels and match with a statement clutch for a contemporary evening look.

Long weekend Looks

April 18, 2019

Travelling with our team

If you’re like us, then you love a long weekend. They help to recover & recoup with a break from the 9-5. We had a chat to Staple the Label team members about their plans and how they’re packing their suitcases.

Kiama - Sara, Head Designer

On a long weekend I love to go down the coast to Kiama. I take my daughter and we stay with family in a fabulous heritage home overlooking the ocean. It's a weekend full of laughter, amazing home-cooked meals, champagne breakfasts and little day trips to Berry and Jamberoo. If the weather is warm there is nothing like a little dip in the ocean rock pools below the lighthouse followed by some ice cream!

In my bag is the Animalier Dress - I can’t get enough of animal print and the easy shape is perfect for low-key weekend. I’ll throw in a knit, like the Zeeta Knit, as it’s starting to get a little cooler in the mornings.

Also in my bag is a book or two - at the moment I am reading "Boy Swallows Universe" - comfy PJs, and of course a few bottles of nice champagne.

Animalier Dress & Zeeta Knit

Susan, Head of Sales. Ubud

Over the long weekend I’ll be heading to Ubud in Bali for a week for a tech-free, relaxing getaway. There will be lots of yoga, mediation and many cups of tea! I’m packing lots of slip dresses, as they’re so easy to wear while still looking chic. I’m in love with the Haighs Slip Dress, the burnt copper shade is beautiful and it’s so comfortable to wear.

Haighs Slip Dress

From the Staple the Label team – have a great long weekend and a Happy Easter.
