Fashion and clothing trends change every season and it can be exhausting (not to mention pricey) to keep up. But there is a simple and relatively inexpensive way to update your look for spring without feeling the need to overhaul your wardrobe: jewellery.

Here are the jewellery trends to embrace for spring 2019.

1. Statement hoops

The humble hoop has been back on the radar for a while now, but this spring it gets taken up a notch. Try a hoop earring in brightly coloured resin to spark up a neutral outfit, or wear thick gold hoops with a t-shirt for effortless style.

2. Chunky chains

Layering multiple delicate necklaces is still a popular look, but added to the mix are chunkier, more statement chains. Spotted on the style set at Copenhagen Fashion Week, it's clear this is a trend set to dominate this season. Wear one on its own to dress up a classic jeans-and-blazer combo, or layer it with your other pieces to make the look your own.

3. Moon & stars

The stars have aligned, and celestial-themed jewellery is back in a big way this spring. Whether it's delicate crescent moons, or subtle constellations adorning fine rings and necklaces, this trend will make all your dreams come true.

4. Body jewellery

No longer just for your neck, hands and ears, this season body jewellery is back in a big way. Think chain belts, belly chains and upper arm cuffs. Thread a chain belt through blue jeans, or cinch an oversized shirt dress to breathe new life into your old favourites.
